Cross species disease transferability

I know its uncommon but possible for some species to be able to transfer diseases. I don't think everyday sickness are possible but its not all together impossible.
Right now I have a cold. and I was worried that I may be able to give it to my chinchilla. Its his cuddle time and hes starring at me waiting to be held.

I'm not an expert about this but I would suggest not handling him anyways just in case

Chins have got URIs from humans, they can get other things also like herpes simplex 1 and die from it, they can get nasty things from cats, dogs and rabbits that can kill them, stay away from the chin and wash those hands before handling their things such as food and toys.
