My chinny has been chirping quite a lot after going to the vet and getting medicine for his right ear & eye. Is he making happy noises because he's happy to be getting better or are they pain noises because he's in pain. It sounds like his happy chirping but since this is the first time I have ever had a sickness with him in worried. They are very small squeaks and he does around 10 of them in a row while roaming around his recov cage.

Sounds like someone is feeling better. They do not make the happy chirps if they are in pain. Pain either makes them quiet or they will scream if it is intense and sudden.
