chins and rats

Does anyone have rats as well as Chinnies? I've just adopted a couple. 2 seperate playtimes will be fun! Just curious if any have them both and if they're compatible.
I understand if not due to any potential of passing on illnesses and general prey aspect of each other

I have both rats and chins. They are both great pets, you need to keep them separate though as the rats could do some serious damage to the chins if they are so inclined. I used to keep rats and chins in the same room with no problems. They were in different cages and had different play times and play areas.

yeah i thought so, Gonna give the rats the kitchen and my chin can have the bathroom. I live in a studio flat so cages are in the same room, but opposite ends. I don't think my chin is too impressed with the new arrivals...he'll have to up his behaviour a notch lol he has competition! I'm jokin, but i am impatient on his taming and his avoidance of 'treat' foods

If the bathroom is used the way bathrooms are its not a appropriate place for a chin to live.

yeah just playtime, and they all get watched constantly

I have both as well. I love my chins very much, but rats will always be my first and favorite love among pocket pets.

aww claire their tails feel lovely! Turns out they are equally as mischievous as chinnies- there appear to be small gaps i was unaware of in my kitchen :-S
