Chester is only a few days away from being 6 months old, so I figured now would be a good time to weigh him. I was pretty surprised to ind out that he weighs 580 grams (give or take, he kept moving.)

Is that a normal weight for a 6 month old boy? He is pretty big, but not overweight at all, and very energetic.

Also I've been considering getting him a check up at the vet before winter comes, is there any reason to get vet checkups, even when they're not sick?

Like humans chins come in all shapes and sizes. there is no set weight by age. Sounds like he's on the right track!

Unlike other animals chins really don't need wellness checks. The whole ordeal of taking him to the vet could just stress him out. Unless he's displaying any symptoms of illness the vet's not going to do much but look him over.

Thanks for the info!! I thought that 580 was pretty heavy, but I'm glad to know it's a not too heavy!
& I won't bother taking him to the vet :)
