im not sure if i posted this before but i can't find the post anymore even when I'm using the search function so I'm reposting just in case(sorry if spam) xD
lately my chinchilla has been squinting both of his eyes and there have been no white residue or anything. he still loves to eat but he's less energetic now, there are no signs of drool. the only other sign is that his fur at the bottom of his eyes have begun to puff up

I wonder if he's having stomach problems. That position he's standing in to me actually looks like he might be in pain. However, I've seen chinchillas make that face when scared or upset. Is there something that could be annoying him? Unusual sounds, people poking at him, other animals, etc? How do his poops look? Are they smaller than normal? About the same? I would recommend closely monitoring his poops, food intake, water, hay and checking his weight daily for a few days. This will give you an idea if he's really eating enough. Sometimes chinchillas eat part of a pellet and then return it to the bowl. This can make it hard to tell if they are eating much or not. In the picture you have up I can't see anything up with his eyes but it does look like there are a good amount of pellets in the bottom of the cage. Maybe he's throwing them down there instead of eating them? My little malo guy use to try to eat a pellet and then drop it when it hurt.
