chinchilla sleeping on side

My chinchilla sometimes sleeps on his side and at first I thought he died! I was worried when this started because usually sleeps in a sitting position. I looked into this and websites mostly said this is normal and he is comfortable but some said he could be sick? He otherwise acts normal so should I assume he is healthy and fine??

I'm a new chinchilla mother so everything he does that I don't recognize makes me nervous! :neener:

Its normal for most chins, sometimes when they are hot or mostly they are just comfortable in their environment.

yea, chins often sleep on there sides. I think it scares just about everyone tho the first time they see it!

My chinchillas stretch out when they are super comfortable. Nothing to be worried about

He's probably fine and it has in the past freaked me the **** out. We call it Vincenza's sexy pose now because if she looks up at us, it's usually over her shoulder.

wait until you have or see a chin that likes to sleep on her back with her eyes open. I had one who did this and she scared me often because of it. top it off she was a very sound sleeper - so I had to 'poke' her a couple of times to make sure she wasn't dead.

Yup, it is normal! And quite adorable too (once you get used to see it a couple times lol)
