Hi guys, my chin was acting strange the other day, I believe due to the heat, and last night he was just laying there, so my gf and I used a dropper and were giving him water, and I read some yogurt would help in case of lack of calcium, so I mixed yogurt with water and we were feeding him like that. So when I was leaving for work in the morning he still seemed lethargic, but was moving around a bit more we had got the ac running while we were at work so I thought he'd be fine.

When I got home today I went to give him water and had got grapes and apples to see if we could get him to eat, but he couldnt, he was still laying flat so I put him on the ground and went to get him some water. To my surprise he ran... or rather limped off and hid in one of his spots, it seemed like his back legs weren't quite working.

Well I was feeding him water and more yogurt to get his energy up, then went on to cook dinner, after we ate we came back in to try to give him more water and he started having seizures. I'm talking him to the vet tomorrow first thing in the morning.

But bottom line, what can I do for him for tonight to help with the seizures?

He should already have been seen by a vet. "The other day" is pretty vague as to when this all started, but it has been going on for more than a day or two and that's not good.

Also, I would not keep giving him yogurt, grapes, and apples. It isn't going to make his legs start working and could end up giving you a nice case of bloat or stasis to deal with on top of everything else. I would keep him confined to a carrier that has no ledges he can fall off of and make sure he has food and water available.

Your best bet is to do what you are doing, get him to the vet right away. If you have an E-vet, I'd take him in tonight.

Chins must be kept in an air-conditioned environment and you need to monitor the temperature in your chinchilla's room. If you do not have a thermometer, it is a good idea to get one so you know what the temperature is. Most keep the room temperature where chins are at 68 - 73 because chins are very sensitive to high temperatures; they can overheat and die.
