chinchilla poop problem

all day my chinchilla poop so many but some time have 6 7 small poop

he is fine ?

My chin sometimes does a little poop but shes a small chinchilla so i dont worry too much but i notice her poop gets a little bigger when shes eaten her hay. I wouldnt worry too much they poop alot anyway and i dont think it strange you get a few little ones, if his poop is all the time small i would think maybe hes a little constipated and give a little bit of liquorise root

Chinchilla poop varies in size throughout the day and night. It is perfectly normal unless the poop gets small, hard and stays that way.

What do you mean if it gets small and hard and stays that way? I thought their poop was naturally hard little pellets all the time.

their poop is naturally very firm and 'pellet-like', but if you give one a squeeze there is some give to it (just a little). by small and hard we mean very hard with no 'give' and smaller than their usual poops.

a few small poop are fine as long as during the day there are plenty of good sized poops

i read somewhere (can't recall where) that chins have two different kinds of poops. one that they'll just poop and leave and one that they will sometimes eat. i want to say 'cecotrophs' for the name of the poop they do eat, and if my memory serves me correctly (jury is still out on that one!), the small poops are the ones they'll eat sometimes?
