Check out the May 1st pet of the day, Winston the chinchilla.

Outside in his leash.

I thought this website knew by now that this was inappropriate?

Now chinchilla owners who see the picture and don't know any better might think it's a great idea to walk their chinchillas.

*sigh*

Agreed. Their "expert" has no idea what she's talking about half the time. Most of the basic info is accurate, but one of her posts had AC listed as an option, not a requirement! I couldn't believe it!

i commented on that picture on their facebook page..
along with a few of their other chinchilla posts..
some people just make me want to go grrrr.

I am more upset with the Wonderland Rabbit Rescue.

I pointed out the dangers of putting a chinchilla on a leash outside. This is the response I got:

"Yeah I know. It wasn't a leash. He had the rabbits vest on so that I could take him outside to take his picture by the flowers and in the sunshine. While I appreciate the info, I'm sure he would have been in much more harm if he would have gotten away from us and gotten loose. He was in no danger."

I wonder if they know about the risk of rabbit diseases passing onto chinchillas???

Wow this is somewhat aggravating. This will make new owners think they can play outside and walk on a leash, that's crazy!!! It says on their page he has had 6 different homes :hair:Well that's probably because you put him on a leash and take him outside and when new owners discover they can't be on a leash or outside, they probably don't want him anymore.:banghead: people really do amaze me sometimes
