chinchilla fur

okay , so my chinchilla got some ketchup on his fur the other night (i already know this is really bad and everything else about chinchillas/chin fur , i did a ton of research before i even got him , please save the lecture . and i apologize if that sounds rude but i'm a little worried/confused) anyways , i thought i got it off completely ... but i've noticed that he's got loose-ish furs coming from the spot he got the ketchup on . they don't seem to be bothering him at all , i can pull on the furs , some come out , others i leave alone ... i just wanna know if , like , maybe he's shedding the crap off or if i should take him to the vet .

i was afraid he was gonna get sick from eating any ketchup . if he did . but he didn't get sick so i felt better about that , at least ... and , as i said , he's still his happy , normal self . it's not bothering him at all ... i just need to know if i should take him to the vet or wait it out .

He should be fine. Just try to work the ketchup off with a moist rag or unscented baby wipe and give him a dust bath.

thank you ! i gave him a dust bath but i didn't try the damp rag ... i was afraid it'd be too wet . idk , but thanks again . i'll try the rag and another dust bath .

Chinchillas can get wet. You just need to make sure you dry them completely so they don't get fungus.
