Should I remove the cage from the room when doing free run for my chin? Which is better - to have the cage within the room so the chin can go back in, or keep the cage out so the chin is essentially forced to stay out and run around..?

Or i guess a better question is: does it matter?

If your chin is so scared that all he wants to do is go back in his cage, let him. Forcing him to stay out would not be a great bonding experience for the two of you. That being said, the odds of him running back and hiding in his cage once he's out for play time are pretty slim. It's more likely you'll have to fight to put him back. Leave the cage where it is, close the door, and let him run.

If your cage is on wheels, you will probably need to take them off or block the space with some towels or cardboard. The first time we had Mochi out, she would shimmy her way under the cage. We were surprised because it's such a tiny space, but they can fit in much smaller holes than you would think.
