Hello,
I know I post on this forum a lot but I am a very paranoid and dedicated chin owner. Recently I've been reading about people putting together a first aid kit for their chinchillas in case of emergencies.
As I said before, being paranoid, I wanted to get one together for my girls. Even if I never use it I want to have slight comfort knowing I do have it. In no way am I using this to replace an experienced vet care, but only to deal with something minor or keeping them going until I can get them to an emergency vet clinic which is 30 minutes away.
I'm wondering, what should I put in it, and where might I be able to get good supplies?

Off the top of my head a few items to definitely include would be a fairly large piece of fleece for burrito-ing, Blue Kote, hand feeding syringes, critical care, and I am sure there is more...hopefully others will chime in with their suggestions as well. The ones I mentioned are definites though...

I have the phone number for the chinchillas’ vet and for the emergency center for exotics on our contact list close to the phone. I also have written them on a magnet I keep on the fridge.

Simethicone Infant Drops
Small syringe for the simethicone drops
Critical care
Feeding syringes
Small hard-case carrier with a fleece pad
Blue Ice pack (or any hard ice pack) which we always keep in freezer so it’s ready if needed. We put a covered ice pack in the carrier when we go to the vet.
Fleece pouch for the ice pack
A piece of fleece large enough to burrito wrap a chin
Unscented baby wipes
Non-saline eyedrops
Small container of corn starch – helps to stop bleeding from small cuts
Sterile pads
