My chinchilla room is very well conditioned and ventilated; however, there still is dust. I clean up after every little bath, but you just can't always get those little particles in the air. Whenever he's taking his bath or I'm just sitting next to it, I have difficultly breathing without this gagging sensation, but it's in my chest. It feels like there's something blocking the way in my lungs, but I don't know for sure. Coughing hurts very badly. Has anyone else experienced this before?

not that specifically no. But i have some bad allergic problems when it comes to the dust. Thats why i use a dust mask and give it to them late at night. That way when they are done i can turn up the air filter and leave the room and go to my bed room for the night. Usually by the next morning its not so bad.

I have changed over to an allergy-friendly dust I get from Whimsy's Menagerie and it has helped quite a bit.

I love Godofgods idea of wearing a dust mask.
