I am going to try to build my chinchilla a cage but I dont know what type of wood to use any suggestions?
terrace would appreciate any designs anyone has that chinchillas seem to love!
His cage just seems to small to me I can't stand it and since I can buy one that seems big enough I will just have to build one :D

I have never built a cage, but some common woods to use are pine or poplar. They come in many shapes and sizes and are safe for chins.

Good luck.

People use melamine also. They cut at Home depot for sure, not sure about Menards or Lowes though. the person that cut my wood did it for free, for around 15-20 pieces of pine i got it for 6 dollars. Make sure to get KD though.

If you use melamine you have to be sure to cover the edges with metal trim so the chin can not chew them.

I know someone on ebay who makes/sells corner pieces and such I was considering melamine but I would still need a design to base mine off of... I am buying a custom made pan so that is not an issue

Here is an idea if you want a starting point.

start with a sketch
