I feel like my chinchilla has a major diva complex. She loves attention but she needs it first. If I even acknowledge my other girl she seems to glare at me. If I then try to talk to her she turns her back to me and ignores my presence. She's even done a dramatic back turn with a tail flick.
Does anyone else's chinchillas do this?
I did get a good picture of the glare during cage cleaning. I had blocked her in the top portion of the FN while I cleaned the bottom portion so excuse the stray poo.

I have a 1 yr old male than can give me major attitude. If I bother him while he's sleeping, or I've done something that's made him mad, he will turn his back to me and hunch his shoulders down. If I try to look at him from the side he just keeps turning his back to me. He's also very entertaining and lovable. Quite the personality!

I'll take the stink-eye or the turned back snub any day. I have one male who will chase me across the room while growling at me if he is really mad. If he catches me, he will bite me too. As long as he isn't mad, he is the most lovable chin I have so I forgive him and try really hard not to make him mad. He has me very well trained.

She does not make noise, it's more like a silent treatment. The only way to break her out of it is a chin scratch or a little rose hip. She's actually a nice girl until a
I start acknowledging the other chin.
Glad I'm not the only one with a temperamental chinchilla!

My older chin is like yours, he gets real grumpy sometimes and has a pretty mean stink-eye. My younger chin Mojo is a right little terror, however. He ALWAYS wants out to explore, and if ignored he'll start viciously pulling up the corners of his liner and shoving it around now that he knows we will always come fix it. I once even caught him yanking the granite slab (I use as a manhole cover to separate our FN levels) clear off the opening so he could get at Gizmo. If all you get are nasty looks, consider yourself lucky :)
