Chin peeing in his hay

Since we got Goober, I have noticed that he is constantly peeing in his Timothy Hay. When we first got him, he was not given loose hay at all. I think the previous owner gave him an occasional hay cube thing,but never loose hay. I have tried several different hay holders, and my last resort was an all pine cd holder that I found at the craft store, that almost looks like a trough. It has gaps in between the wood, so when he peed on it last, I decided to just flip it over and let him pull the hay from between the gaps. My girls have never peed in their hay, so I am wondering if it has to do with him being a boy, or because he wasn't given loose hay before. Any ideas on why he is doing it, and more importantly, how to make him stop? :hair:

I have a hay holder on one of my cages that is actually on the outside, and to get the hay they just pull it through the cage bars.

I thought you could buy them at www.qualitycage.com, but I can't seem to find them.

i had the same problem when i kept the hay in a clay pot....so now i just stuff it in toilet paper rolls...its not the neatest way...but it works lol

Here are some. No way for him to pee in his hay (in the holder anyway) if you use this. Also keeps them from making a huge mess, too.

That's great. I have been saying that I need to order some metal pans from them anyway. The girls are getting poo everywhere by me using the fleece liners without a pan on thair cage.
