I've been feeding my boys Zupreem Nature's Promise Premium Chinchilla Food for the past year. However I've just learned that the corn meal that's in the ingredients is not good for their digestion system. I've never had a problem with their poop, they actually poop A LOT  They are very healthy and fur is super soft. I am however concern of long term effects. I would like to see what others are using and how it's been for them. I'm always willing to try something new and healthy for my boys. I've looked into Oxbow and Mazuri, however before I make any transition switch I would like to hear from other chins owner.

If you do a search in the diet and nutrition section, you will find a ton of threads that already discuss this issue. Take a read through there and see if you find the answers you are looking for.

I've had experiences with Tradition and Mazuri. I prefer Mazuri simply because I cannot buy Tradition locally. My chins like it and have not had any problems on it. Oxbow is also a fine feed to give. You are correct in that corn of any kind is not good for chins...have you tried going to your local feed store to seek out Mazuri or Oxbow?

They don't carry the pellets only ones. My boys are very picky and will only eat pellets and not the other stuff. The one's I've seen from Oxbow are mixed with other things in it.

Oxbow chinchilla food that is a mix? Are you sure it was oxbow?

To my knowledge Oxbow does not carry a "mixed" feed.

You might be seeing the Oxbow treats and not the Oxbow Deluxe Chinchilla Food, perhaps? Otherwise you may be mistaking it for something else.

If you do come across Oxbow though, it's fantastic. My chinchilla is currently on Oxbow (which you can also find in petstores) and he loves it. It's a little more expensive than Mazuri, but if you get it in the petstore, it's the same price per ounce as the crap they sell, like Charlie Chinchilla and stuff.

you could buy a few pounds of a few different pellets from people here and see if there's one they like more than another. I know that many people don't like switching pellots, but I belive as long as it's healthy it's not a huge deal to switch

If you are in/near Ohio, Shoots makes a good product. They just got out of the breeding business, but are keeping their store and mill open. The food is $1 per pound and its really great stuff

There are rabbit feeds that work well for chinchillas as well, so please keep in mind this is also an alternative. PANR rabbit feed and Nutrena rabbit feed are also excellent feeds for chinchillas

Went through most of the diet and nutrition section and many people likes both. Now it's just finding them at local stores or feed mills.

Well so far no luck with Oxbow around my area, might turn to ordering online. I actually just recently got 2 more chins and the person gave me some Mazuri so I started mixing the food up from Mazuri and Zupreem, amazingly my boys now refuse to eat the Zupreem and only eat the Mazuri. Now I just have to find this so call local feed store and buy some

i always find it amazing when my pets (be it ferret or chinchilla) get a new food and refuses to eat the old kind their used to. Swithcing them over slowly, mixxing it gradualy to favore the new food, them not eating the new food, it can get tiresome and problematic. So when they only eat the new feed its like 0.0

Where are you located? If there is a breeder/rescue near you often times they feed and sell high quality chinchilla feed. Also, it's usually a fraction of the cost of pet store prices.

It was oxbow treats, the lady at the pet store told me it was the food. Needless to say I'm not going back to that store. I actually found a local feed that carries Mazuri, my chins LOVES it. Thanks for all your help everyone.
