Random question and I feel silly asking.
(I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, I did search.)

Is the Blue Cloud chinchilla dust that is sold in petstores the same as the good quality stuff that I order in bulk from breeders?
I've seen three different labels and am wondering if it's all the same product.

No, the only thing that is Blue Cloud is... Blue Cloud.
Usually what's available in the stores is a lesser quality dust. Best deal for the best dust... order a flat rate box from someone on here!

Petco and Petsmart do carry Blue Cloud I don't know what they call it. The owner (Norm) does sell to both of them and they just bottle it. They are just more expensive. He sells to them in a ton or two-ton canvas bags. I saw the bags a couple of times while at the mine.

If it says Blue Cloud on the package, it is Blue Cloud. The name can only be used with permission of the mine owner.

It is the same, however, some on here have noted that the stuff from the store has an off smell and a different texture. Not sure if that is a byproduct of their packaging process or what, but bottom line is that it is considerably more expensive. I like buying my Blue Cloud from Snickers on here. Her prices are the best and she is very nice to deal with.:thumbsup:

I've seen the blue cloud sold in pet stores but I don't think it is the same quality as the one we get from ranchers. It definately has a smell and to me it doesn't quite look the same.
