This happened yesterday,

It was already late and my mom returned from work and wanted to see the chin one more time.
We went nextdoors (my chin lives with my grandmother nextdoor)
Now my mom and gran started talking about my grandfather who died couple of years ago.
I started thinking of him and got a tear in my eye.
As a 16 old boy (read man!) I didn't want them to see ;)
Went to Stevie saying goodnight.
Strangely enough I could pick him up without a squeek or anything!
Normally she wouldn't let me pick her up so easily.

I don't know why but her way of acting really cheered me up.

That was about it I think

(Gonna stop writing now caz I'm turning soft again ;) positif though!)

what a sweet story. I truly believe chins can sense emotion so I don't think it's that crazy that she would let you hold her when she knows your sad.

Hey! You're never too old to cry for your grandpa! It takes more strength and courage to mourn a loss than it does to ignore it or act like it didn't affect you. ;)

Secondly, yours is not the first chin to do that. One of mine only started sitting on my shoulder after some dental surgery left me with a pulled muscle in my jaw. Every time I went near him that week, he snuggled/groomed the sore part of my face. He's also the one I can 'ask' for snuggles when I'm sad, etc. and will give them without hesitation. But when I want to hold him just because he's cute/I had a long day at work/its Thursday? Forget it! They really do learn to "love" their people in their own chinny ways.

I definitely think the animals close to us sense when we need some comforting, just like the humans around us do. They show us love when we need it the most. Rosey grooms my eyebrows when Im sad....she's such a sweetheart.

Im glad Stevie was showing you her love too!

I think animals in general are like that, at least mine are. My cat HATES to snuggle unless I am upset about something. Then she comes to me, hops on my lap, and just lets me pet and snuggle until I feel better. Then she's off to do her thing again. :p
