My daughter has spots! We think they might be chicken pox, I'm 99% sure she had the CP vaccine... but I know they can still get it. What do you guys think? She says it itches sometimes. I don't know if I should send her to school or not!

Sorry the pic isn't that great, but they aren't really easy to see, they're not huge or bright red or anything.

They don't look like chicken pox to me, but they could be the beginning of them... but I'm no doctor.. I say take her to see the doctor to be safe because school is definetly a No go when theres other kids health involved!!

I agree, she should see a doc to be on the safe side, but they almost look like a heat rash to me. Is the rash on her tummy only, or are they everywhere? Could she have possibly gotten into something that she is reating to or have you changed laundry detergent? If she still has the spots in the morning, probably best to keep her home from school until she has seen the doc, to be on the safe side.

We did just get a different kind of detergent, same brand, but these weren't washed with that kind! Never thought of that though!

It started yesterday on her hip, there were two little red spots that she said itched, I thought they were some kind of bug bite, and didn't think anything of it. Today they are on her belly, which is consistent with "the pox" as I read they tend to start on the belly, face, and back.

I'm wondering if maybe it's a slight case because she was immunized for "the pox".

And if you're wondering... we've been dramatizing the saying of "the pox" here, like oh no... it's... "the pox". Like an old scary movie. :p

Unless they're gone in the morning I'll keep her home just to be safe. :D

About 24 to 36 hours after the first symptoms begin, a rash of small, flat, red spots appears.

Here is what I was thinking about... It would be the right timing, she's been kind of tired lately, but I just chalked it up to a long weekend.

The vaccine doesn't totally immunize you, as you already know, so it is entirely possible that she has come down with a mild case of "the pox". I'm assuming she would still be contagious but her symptoms should be mild. It would be interesting to find out if anyone at school, especially in her class, has come down with the virus...

I'm with everyone else, I would hold off of school just in case. I do get something that looks just like that this time of year though.

I'm not sure what makes me break out, it does happen as it gets warmer and I know using the Bounce fabric sheets make it worse. Yes, they do itch from time to time, particularly if I sweat, and I was sweating and scratching riding my horse earlier.

Excuse the fuzzy belly, my dad's a wookie, har har.

I'm interested to see what your Dr. says. Mine usually shrug and ask if it really bothers me.

Nice doctors! I have been told that too...they hate rashes because they can be caused by just about anything.

They don't appear to have changed, but I'm going to keep her today to make sure. If they don't change she'll go back tomorrow. She has eczema, so I know she has kind of sensitive skin.

Because of what I read, saying they usually blister within 8 hours of appearing, and they all look the same, no more of them that I can tell, I'm going to guess it's not "the pox".

I agree with doctors not always knowing, but with so many diseases anymore, can't blame them.

If she has chicken pox she would probably have a fever and have had one before the pox arrived, and have felt "icky". If she does have chicken pox, she's already infected everyone, so unless she doesn't want to go to school because she doesn't feel well and the pox aren't that apparent, I'd send her.

My son had the vaccine, and somehow was exposed to chicken pox, and ended up with shingles. Home for a week from that. I didn't know you could get real chicken pox like that.
