Hey all,

I ordered some shelves from Whimsy here on the board and have set up a new home for Chichi and Tia (her daughter). Tell me what you guys think. I didn't have any liners for the top, so I just took some fleece and layed it down for right now. Do those steps I made to the second level look safe? As well as the other shelves? I wanted to make sure, they are having their playtime in the playpen right now so they haven't been in it yet.

Thanks for looking!

I would suggest to move the house that is on the shelf (in the second pic) unless it is screwed onto the cage. My boys have and would easily knock that over the shelf. It could cause some serious damage to a chin if they were down below. Otherwise looks good. ;)

hey thanks Alli and Sandy!

Sandy- Since I moved them both into the ferret nation two weeks ago, they wouldn't use the house on the bottom. It is weird. As soon as I moved it up top, they started using it. I might move it back on the bottom or screw it in. Thanks...

If they like it there better I would just drill a hole in the back and bolt it to the side of the cage. Nice and safe, yet they still get what they want. ;)

I've also used those small screw in cup hooks to hold a house to the cage bars. That way you don't need to drill anything, and you can bend the hook a bit so it doesn't come off the bars.

Oooh, good idea. That way you don't have to unscrew it to take the fleece off the shelf. Just lift the house (since it is still attached to the cage).

I've done that before too, works wonderfully!
