Other animals go to the vets every so often for a check up. Should chinchillas be going to be vet for check ups or just when there is something happening that requires the care of a vet?

I personally think its not a bad idea for a new owner to have a wellness check at the vet one time-it allows the chin to become a patient, gives the owner a chance to interview the vet as to what they know about chins, its not needed nor are yearly exams but its my opinion.

i agree, a first time vet visit i think is a good idea, but other than that, no they dont' need to go yearly, just when they get sick

I personally feel that our pets should be seen every year. Things can change from year to year on animals. I feel it's always best to catch something early on than wait till it becomes problematic. Sometimes vets will catch things before the owner even does. For example, last year fufu weighed 700 gr, today she weighs 600 gr. Have you noticed anything different? That's just my example. I know from my husband's stand point it is very frustrating to see a pet when they are 6 months old and then not again till they are 5 for an illness. There's just no history in the chart.

That's just my opinion.
