ceramic or terracotta plates

I know there's been a lot of posts about ceramic and terracotta but i was wondering if you can just use a ceramic dinner plate or terracotta dinner plate or something similar for chins to lay on when it's hot. For instance if the plates are glazed ect would it still be ok for chins.

I'm from south Africa so i cant exactly just go to home depot and just get a ceramic plant pot or similar thing because I'm scared about the lead content and don't trust that the people at the shop will actually know if it's safe or not and if they'll just tell me it's OK to make a sale...

So basically i just want to know if kitchen ware ceramics and terracotta items will be safe for my chins. Sorry about all the questions, i just want to make sure that my boys are safe and happy.

I wouldn't leave it in the cage all the time, but as long as you are there the whole time they are using it to make sure they won't chew on it, it should be okay.
