Cage doors

OK, I am a bit handyman challenged, but I am sick and tired of my cage doors, so I want to make new doors made of wood and wire. How do I get the wire covered by the wood so the edges are safe? Do I make the frame out of two pieces of wood? And what kind of wood do I look for at the hardwood store? What would the cut be? I know I am looking for pine, but where would I find the small strips? Thanks!

you may have to have the store cut them to size for you. I think the frame should be kiln dried pine, if they have a chance to chew it.

Use a staple gun to attach the wire to the wood. Cover the wood with wire on the inside of the cage or the chins will chew the wood and the door will have to be repaired.
