I was thinking about a Cube & Chloroplast cage becuase the cage i have for my male is starting to break and it's not good for his feet so i was thinking about a C&C cage because cages at PetsMart are expensive and they don't last very long so yes i'm sure the C&C cage will be costly but worth it, but my question about them is that they put down a peice of plastic or whatever it's called around the bottom and i don't want the chinchilla to chew it , does anyone know about these cages and if there good for chinchillas ? or does anyone have one or owned one and liked it ?

C&C cages are not safe. The bar spacing is too wide and the chinchillas can get their heads caught between them. I have heard of one particular instance where it happened. They would also chew the chloroplast.

Okay, do you have any recommendations for cages that aren't to much money and are good quality ?

If you want a good quality cage you're probably going to have to shell out some money. Usually cheap and good quality don't go together. All I use are Ferret Nation cages. I have used Superpet cages in the past and I dislike them thoroughly.

Some people make their own cages but I'm not sure how much it would cost and I'm sure it takes a lot of time and effort.

I know a good cage is expensive but I think it's worth the money. If you buy a good cage, you won't have to make that investment again. So maybe in the long run it's worth the initial large financial output.

Building a melamine cage of 4 feet tall by 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep it would cost you about $100 on materials at least, even more, that's what it costed when I had to build one,
