Hey guys, I have a tan male chinchilla whose parents were beige and ebony. I was curious if my tan was breed would ebony show at all? For example, what would the possible kits look like if he was breed with a pink white or standard? I have been trying to learn more about genetics, thanks!

I really depends on what the parents of the tan are, like is the beige a hetero beige or a **** beige, and is the ebony a light, medium, dark, or extra dark ebony? Same thing for the standard or the pink white, what are it's parents? Without knowing farther back on the linage there is no way to know for sure 100% what the possible outcomes are. Here is a site that you can play around with possibilities of color mutation mixes to get an idea. http://www.silverfallchinchilla.com/genetics/ChinCrossCalculator.aspx

Keep in mind too that when breeding you also want to look into genetic health or physical issues in each breeding line, not just color (I don't know a calculator for that).

The cross calculator is great to learn genetics. But bare in mind that not all chins should be bred. If you dont have a pedigree thats an automatic no breeding.
