Hi I'm wondering what's the vest ways to bond with your chin and to gain their trust. I play with her as much as possible, I talk to her and pet quite a lot. It doesn't seem like she likes being held though? Is that normal? When I let her out to play she doesn't really come out to me or anything. She kind of keeps to herself and stays in hiding most of the time. Is there anythig I'm doing wrong?

Chins do not like to be held, that is normal. Not all chins are super friendly and want to interact with their owner. You aren't doing anything wrong, talking to her and petting her is a good thing. She may never be a chin who lays in your lap or hops into your hand and that's okay. You need to be thankful for her as something to pet and love and look at. Maybe some day she'll be more open but until then just keep doing what you're doing.

Yea, you seem to be doing what everyone would tell you to. Just be patient and feel it out. It can take a while.

What time are you taking her out to play? Perhaps she is just not in the mood to play yet and as a result she is just finding a place to go and rest. I know if I take my chins out too early they will try and hide behind the toilet and go back to sleep.

Umm I usually take her out once she starts jumping around the cage a whole bunch. She looks pretty active so I figure that's a good time to let her out. It's usually about 11am and then again at about 5pm and again at about 10pm

You just got her right? It may just take time..

One of my chins was friendly and happy to play within a few days of bringing him home. The other took almost 3 months..

The key to chins is....*bribery.* Dust, infrequent small healthy treats, apple wood, ect. A really aloof chinchilla may never like you for you, but I'm pretty sure it will eventually tolerate & become more comfortable with you the more you bribe...haha.

Good luck. It took at least two years for my oldest boy, Max to trust me. He was painfully shy. Just keep it up, she'll come around.

Alright thank you guys for the help. Yeah I just got her about a month ago. She was pretty friendly when I first brought her home but now she's a little different. But I can tell it obviously will just take time. I'll keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully she will come around.
