I'm getting a quote on powder coating my old cage. For the color, I was thinking silver vein or gloss black. Well the description of the colors says a top coat is recommended for the silver vein to protect from elements so I'm thinking the black is probably more durable (no top coat recommended) and since it may be exposed to chin teeth I want durable. My question is anyone have a black powder coated cage and does dust stick to it and show a lot? I've only had while or gray powder coated cages before. The current cage is painted blue and collects dust so horribly-I don't know if it's because it's paint and the texture attracts dust or what (I don't even dust the chins in the cage anymore). I'm wondering if the glossiness will help deter the dust or if it will look just as bad. Also has your black powder coating held up or have the chins worn it off? I know my white powder coating and been worn off but I used to wash with bleach which apparently is one of the only things to remove powder coating.

Black is going to show the dust big time. I'd go with the silver vein, and another reason is that it will match most decor, believe it or not. I've had green, black, white, etc but gray has been the best color choice IMO.
Yes once they start, or if the chip away at the paint, the black you will notice more. I have macaws and how they love to work on those cages!
