Tonight I was able to go to a book signing and meet the author, J R Ward, who writes the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

IT WAS AWESOME! Now I hate to say it because Peggy didn't get to go. But I just had to share how special it was to meet someone who creates the stories I read. She weighs about 5 pounds and was so funny and "real". She was definitely not what I expected.

I was afraid of asking too many weird and dorky questions, yet she and her assistant both told me my questions were awesome! Instead of focusing on the Brotherhood books I asked her who she likes to read in her spare time. For those interested she reads Lisa Gardner, Sue Grafton and Suzanne Brockmann. The Brotherhood are very "grown-up" vampire books. I asked her throughout pop culture history who her favorite vampire was (mine OF COURSE is Mick St. John) but she loved Frank Langella from the 70's.

For Peggy's sake I asked her if she thought of Gerard Butler to play Tohrment in the movie!

She has been approached to turning the books into movies, however right now she really wants to focus on the writing and nothing else. Too bad for us!

I had her sign my favorite book in the series, Lover Eternal and told her it was a book I reread and often and each time made me cry. She was very touched! I also gave her a book Peggy sent to me to have her sign, and she also sent a note for J R and J R was so touched Peggy sent a note for her!

She is only going to 5 locations to promote this book and I'm SO happy I was able to get to one of the 5. It was in Milwaukee and several people drove up from Illinois to see her.

Heroes are people who touch our lives in many different ways. I consider her a hero of mine as she allows me to step away from the real world I'm living in and escape to somewhere totally different and forget--which sometimes is a very good thing.

Some of you may know I also dabble in writing and she was asked about her thought process and how she writes. She said she starts out by seeing scenes and then fills in around them. She doesn't start at the beginning and write to the end. THIS IS WHAT I DO AS WELL! So I was very excited to learn the same style and technique I use is something a very accomplished author does too.

Just wanted to share my exciting night!

I'm so pleased you enjoyed the meeting Laurie...I know how much you were looking forward to it.

When I write I start with certain scenes in my head too...then patch and cobble each scene together heh. Then sometimes the interlinking parts take on "life" of their own and I end up with a pivotal scene where I least expected it!

See Amanda you write the same way too because someday you're going to be a big published author too! I will be going to your book signings! Maybe I will even be your trusty sidekick assistant!!!!!

Laurie! Did you take a picture?? Thank you for getting my book signed! It will have a place of honor on my desk, right where I can see it every day. :)

Awesome Laurie, I am so happy for you! I write like that as well.

Laurie, I am so excited for you, and very jealous OF you! I've been MIA the past two days, as I ran out to get my copy of the latest book after school one day, and made myself clean my room + cages before I could start it(fastest I think i've done either).

I've been glued to that book every minute I have spare- Breaks/Lunch in school, an my breaks at work! (and...since tonight is my night off from class--guess where I am headed? Yup, to finish the book!)

Peggy I'm so sorry I didn't get a picture! My camera died a couple of months ago and I just haven't bothered to either get it fixed or get a new one. I really wish you could have been there with me!
