My male chin., Mouse, bites me when I stick my finger through the cage. He also likes to mess up his cage EPICALLY after I clean it!
Meaning, he rips up the paper I lay down for him so he doesn't step on wires, he dumps his food out, he pushes the ladders down off the shelves, he's so wily! lol, How do I get him to stop being so...crazy/hyper? :hmm:

First off... stop sticking your fingers through the cages if he bites you when you do it. Some chins associate things coming through the cage bars with food.

As far as being a terror in the cage? He doesn't need ladders, so feel free to just remove those. Put fleece down instead of paper. You'll probably be able to attach it better. Or put wood over the wire. Get a food bowl that attaches to the cage and see if that stops him dumping it. However, when it comes down to it, chins are messy and crazy animals.

Lol, I've stopped putting my fingers through the cage. I may not be that bright, but I'm not exactly that dumb. hehehe, and well I have a niece and nephew I tell them not to put their fingers in there, they do anyway. It worries me.

And I do have food bowls that attach, but he dumps those too! lol, i'll attach it with wire. haha,
and this summer I'll ask my dad to help me build shelves.

Isn't this why we love them?

mine try to nibble on anything that gets within reach, including my body parts when im putting things into the cage or moving things around. its not in an aggressive way. they will actually take their toys to the top of the cage and throw them out. they will also knock anything not secured down to the bottom of the cage. ur probably fighting a loosing battle lol.
