I recently had a lady contact me who had a pet store chin deliver quints! She was wondering if that was normal, and of course I informed her it is not. Yes, 5 babies! Only 1 survived, but that may have had something to do with her vet telling her to feed the babies KLMR instead of goats milk.

This got me thinking. I am wondering what was your biggest litter, how many times you have had triplets, quads, etc. Since I don't know how to make a quiz, just post your responses please. Thank you!

I have had quads twice here, and at the same time!

7 is our biggest litter, several liters of 5 and 6. As far as quads they are pretty common here with 3 sets of quads so far this week.

I've had 4 - 5 sets of quads here, over the years. One set of quints, but only one survived, last year.

There was a chinchilla surrendered who was preggers. She popped out quads! I really really have respect for those who deal with quads or more kits on a regular basis!!

I've just started breeding my pedigreed chins so we shall see what the future holds.

I had a litter of 5. All survived with a LOT of work. That was years ago and I used kitten milk as a supplement. I had to get up every night, every couple of hours and rotate and supplement for quite a while.

Holy cow Jags! 7! May I ask how many survived, and if you "supplemented" them? How much did they weigh? I wonder if that was two uterine horns, or just one...

Those of you who got these quints, is that possible to put some kits with another nursing mom? As long as she accepts them of course.

Yes, although,I've not had to do it with quads - they got along. Sometimes, if they fight, that's exactly the recommended thing to do, or if the mom isn't producing enough milk.

I remember someone taking in a chin that was pregnant a while back that had 8 kits and 7 survived...anyone remember that?

The largest litter I've ever had in the rescue was the triplets that were born last Sunday

I would imagine that the kits of that number would be too small to survive...I'd love to know some weights if anyone remembers...

Quads a very long time ago. I hand reared all of them, mom did not produce milk and did not have another female to foster the kits to. The kits did great and mom did not go back into breeding.

I do!!!! I was just thinking that. That whole story was wild. Kudos to that lady. She did awesome with them

LOL Glad some other people remember LOL I was begining to think I was losing my mind :)

Carise, I remember that story too! I don't remember who the member was though. I'd like to know where those chins are now! :)

The largest litter I've had here was quads and they all survived.

i have had MANY 3-4 kit litters... I would say i have more trips then singles and twins combined and probably the same number of quads as i have had twins
Most of my kits are born between 55-65 grams.. most of my quads are between 45-60
i have one litter of trips right now, which are pretty small, but it is also a first time mom...
