Whats the best food to buy for chins? i know about just having plain pellets but is there a certain brand thats better than the rest?

I currently have pellets mixed with timothy hay but my chin isnt fond of the dryed out hay.

I personally like the Mazuri pellets. Other good brands include Oxbow and Manna Pro Sho rabbit food.

In your area, hands down, I would go for Tradition. I personally think it's the best on the market. After that I would use Neutrena, Oxbow, Manna Pro, and if I couldn't get anything else in my area and didn't want to buy through the internet, I would get Mazuri.

Yes, that is the one, Manna ProSho, and there is also Manna Pro but I have never found either one in a Wal-Mart near me.

Yeah, I thought that sounded a little too good to be true. lol That would be too convenient to have it readily available at a WalMart. I'll have to check mine and see if I get lucky. ;)

Is Manna ProSho better than Manna Pro?

I believe there are more who feed the Pro Sho formula over just the Pro. I feed my chins Tradition so I can't say which MannaPro pellet is better. Below is a chart I found on their website that may help you decide.

Can someone explain to me the downfall of Mazuri pellets? I keep having people tell me they are not great. I have heard one reason is soft poos but the guy I had on them rarely had any soft poos and only when he was suffering stasis due to malo or when the poos got too close to the water bottle. I ask because I can get Mazuri very fresh in 25lb bags locally. I watch the mill dates and can often get one near the same month I bought it. This means I have plenty of chinchilla pellets for a long time. With just one I actually ended up having to throw some out but still saved money. I believe the 25lb bag is $14.99 and the 2.5lb bag is $7.99. I haven't found any of the other brands that I can get near the same deal on. Also, many of them they mark a "best used by date" and so I have no idea how old the food actually is. I always stuck with Mazuri because it was the cheapest and freshest. So, what are the negatives as compared to the other brands? Is there a comparison chart somewhere?

I had my chin on Mazuri and she did fine with them ....they did not carry them local for me and that is a great price you can get them because I had to drive 45 miles and the 2.5 bag was 12.99 USD...the only reason I switched to oxbow was they pet stores special ordered me the bag and I have one chin and that will last me a long time ....If mazuri was more available to me Id still use it...I think the one the one thing I read is mazuri has a higher count Im not sure of it was protein ? maybe someone will know but many chins do well on mazuri its all depends on ur chin some chins will go runny some dont
