Hello everyone!! I am so happy to say that very soon i will be adding two chins to my family. I have been searching a lot for the best cage. Any suggestions? It seems most of you have the ferret nation, is that the best one.

Also i have seen so many different decorations and style that i a, looking for suggestion on how to set up my cage and what are a must have??

I also like the idea of litter training my chins so please can you tell me how?? One last thing i see that people have everything lined in fleece, is that just for the droppings or is there another purpose??

Thanks for all your help!

I have two FN cages for my chins. 'Best' is a matter of preference in some cages. But there are a few popular ones that most stick to. Check out the Ferret Nation Club thread for tons of pics of ppl's FN cages and setups.

I used fleece for a while just for the chins comfort. Lined the shelf that their house was one with fleece, as well as fleece hammocks. But some ppl make fleece liners designed as a litter pan type thing for chins. Generally seem to be some type of absorbent material covered with fleece.

The pee adds up tho, you need to be able to wash them every few days or such. Also some chins leave the fleece alone and enjoy it, some chins chew up/destroy the fleece. If your is a destroyer, you may have to remove the fleece to make sure they don't tear it up and ingest some of it.

Ferret Nation cages have been a suggestion for many chinchilla owners as they are quite spacious and are not plastic at all (which is better because if there is any plastic, your chin will chew on it and it might harm them if ingested) There are other metal cages that are similar to ferret nation cages however, its just a general favorite because of its design.
