Being in a cast sucks. Anything I can do to stop it from itching?!

I've been in a cast for a few weeks now and I"ve still got a few more to go. My leg is itching terribly and it is driving me insane! Scratching it (with some sort of object) makes it worse.... but not doing anything doesn't make it go away either!

Does anyone have ANY ideas that they can share? Pretty please? With sugar on top?

I don't think I can get that in the cast... I could try it though.

I've never had this problem with the other casts I've had, so I'm not sure why this one would be different... its really annoying!

how about a wire hanger? I did that when I broke my wrist...it helps!

Try a blow dryer on low or cool setting.

The WORST thing you can do is poke down it with something that might break the skin -- the conditions are perfect for an infection to set in.

The most I ever did was tape a Q-tip to a pencil that was thin enough to get in to kind of "rub" it.

Definitely try the blow dryer trick. If you have one of the fiberglass casts=try a big ice pack. If it keeps up, call MD as you may need your cast changed or at least opened to check your skin underneath for any sores or infection. Good Luck

That's actually what I've been using (one of the ends, not the part that hangs it) and it works fairly well exept it continues to itch. haha.

I'll try the fan to see how that works. A lot of people on another board also reocmmended that.
