Well I noticed that Buffy is humping her mom and sometimes chases her around the cage. Should I be concerned? Do you think they should be separated?
I would estimate the baby to be about 7 or 8 months now.

Thanks!

That's pretty normal. Chins mount each other all the time for dominance and, I think, because they think it's really fun. I have a few moms and daughters that are together and this happens all the time. Sometimes the moms seem to just want to get the baby to calm down and just sit on them for a bit. As long as it doesn't turn into fighting or chasing, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks! I have just never seen her do that so I got a little worried. I guess she is growing up and trying to take over mom, lol

And yes I am sure the kit is a female, when I adopted them I double checked :)

Nixi is 18 months old and still humps her mom pretty regularly. Maia takes it to a point, but once she's reached her limit, she'll shove Nixi off of whatever shelf she's on and ban her from the top level for a few minutes. It's pretty funny. "Bad child! Go downstairs and calm down!"
