Hi, I recently adopted two brother chins who are about 10 weeks now (they were weaned at 8 weeks).
The one chin is very active, loves to run, doesn't like to be held for very long(which I understand chins can be like that), eats, drinks, seems fine.
The other brother eats, drinks, runs around some, always wants to be held. When I walk by his cage, he comes to the door always wanting out, and when he's out, he wants to be held and cuddles up to my chest and falls asleep. He will lay there for up to half an hour.
I let them out for about half an hour or less a day because I know they can exhaust themselves because they are so small at the moment. The active chin will run forever, but the cuddly one will hop around for about 10 minutes and then come to me and sleep in my lap.
I've looked around and haven't found very much on a cuddly chin. It's just been worrying me a lot. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated, thank you.

Chinchillas that young should not have playtime at all.No wheels or playtime out of cage until at least six months. Babies will over exert themselves quickly leading to low blood sugar, seizures, etc. They need to spend those first few months gaining weight and growing bigger along with perfecting jumping, wall surfing and all those other crazy things babies think they can do right away! Just like human babies you have to keep them from hurting themselves.

Some chins are cuddly, but they tend to be the exception not the norm, unfortunately. So long as he isn't acting weird, limp, not eating, not drinking, not pooping or peeing, etc, you may just have a more mellow chin. Unfortunately being cuddly can sometimes be something they out grow, kits tend to be more cuddly then adults. Out of the over a dozen chins I've had over the years I've only had a couple that were cuddly. Most will learn to like to hang out, but not really cuddle.

As said young kits should not have play time, being held and carried is fine, but more then 5-10 minutes a day is too much playtime for kits, until they are around 6 months. As said they can over exert themselves very easily, as well as growing can cause them to become more clumsy. Growing bones, muscles, and tendons don't always all grow at the same rate, which can result in strains and sprains as well if they over do it (just like you don't take puppies out for long runs until they are full grown). I know it's hard to wait, but 6 months will be here before you know it, and then you should have many years (15-20+) of playtime with the boys.
