So, Paul went to the farm to mow for the first time this year, and I guess he hit a rabbits nest. Well babies are alive and fine, but exposed and the nest can not stay where it is.

So, I call the Rescue league and ask for advice. Well the seeimingly 12 yr old that answered told me to leave the nest alone, and do not do anything.

Well, they would die of sun exposure, and it cant stay where it is, it is in the path of the heavy machinery. So, I have a number I have to give to him to call. To see if someone can foster them

Why do poeple not listen. I told her 4 times, they would die, and she insisted, well the mom will come back to the nest and feed at night. Ok dummy! I got that, however, they CANT stay there, they will die.... so now what......she had nothing to say.....ugh futile!!! The cats would have eaten them, as the mower did catch a few of them, sadly, so they wouod have smelled them, plus they would be in the way for the other equipment.

We called the Wildlife rescue but I think they wont open until Monday, so i did some reading and went to a buny forum, and we plan on feeding and no touching other then that. I touched them here, to move them to a tote and figured I would take pics while at it.

Here they are

I had saved a baby bunny from my dog years ago and brought it inside and called animal rescue. They came within an hour and took the baby but informed me that it is almost impossible to keep baby bunnies alive. I'm hoping that this one did make it - I never heard back from them and I didn't inquire any further. Momma bunny will probably be back by nightfall and it would be best if she could care for them. You don't think they could go back to the ruined nest for the night? If they are still there in the morning, then momma most likely isn't coming back and then you could have the rescue group come get them. But I heard that their best chance is to stay with momma.

Good luck either way. They sure are cute and I wish the best for them.

Tooooo Cute!!! I love seeing the rabbits in the back yard. It's a shame they don't
inform you when they take up residence!hehe. Hope he does good. I bet the bunny
forum was helpful. I'm planning on getting a "domestic" bunny in the near future--and
will be joining it.

Here is the place I took them, the people who run it were awesome and i got to meet Windy their Lynx that was abused and is a perm rescue there. I got to see a bunch of animals they are helping, and then releaseing, and I got a number for them with an ID number to call and check on the bunnies!!!

Good luck, it is so hard to keep them alive! They are very precious though. I hope they can make it.

I had contacted the rescue today Via email as they didnt answer when I called earlier. I am sure they were busy with animals! Here is the reply

Hi Tara and Paul,

The 3 largest bunnies thrived and were released this past Friday. Of the 2 that were small and underdeveloped, the weakest one died the next day. The other one, however, did come around and was released with another lone bunny this morning – so out of the 5, 4 made it and are now out there doing the wild bunny thing.

Thanks for bringing them in.

Peggy

It's sad that one bunny died, but I'm happy for the 4 that survived! Great job!

Yea, they said that because the mom had a litter of 10, 5 didnt make it from the get go, before they were brought to the house, that the tiny babies were malnourished, from not getting enough to eat from mom. I am pleased with the outcome!
