We got our 8 week old chin a chin spin wheel, we had a big silent spinner but took it out today because it's plastic. I just read online that babies should not have wheels until 5 months old. Is this right???? He loves his wheel, but can he hurt himself on it somehow. He has not tried out the chin spin yet, but ran a lot on the silent spinner. Never chewed it, but we still didn't want any plastic in the cage. Should we be taking the chin spin out till he's older?
THanks!

It is best to wait until he is older. Young chins need all of the calories they get from food for growing. Removing the plastic wheel was the right thing to do! I would wait until he is at least 6 months old to give him his new wheel.

Good job on removing the plastic! People wait on the wheels because chin babies are prone to over-exerting themselves, same reason you should limit a young chins out of cage playtime. Also, young growing chins needs all the calories they are taking in to grow big and strong :)

My girls had wheels at young ages but I keep a close eye on food intake, weights and how they use it. Babies are kind of wild and don't know when to stop so it is up to you to watch them. If your baby is eating well and gaining weight, I don't see an issue. JMO
