I gor my little girlie, Ayla, home on Thursday - she is precious!!

Ayla was one of 3 babies born to a first-time mom chin. In her zeal to get the babies clean, she accidentally chewed the tails off of Ayla and her brother, leaving only a small "docked" tail. It resembles a rabbit tail! It is all Ayla has known, and her balance is not affected at all. I am getting used to her little "bunny butt" and to me, she is beautiful!

She is getting the lay of the land in her cage, and goes easily from the floor up the ramp to the shelf (it is a FN cage, single). I know she has been ALL over the cage, but - I have seen little change in the level of the water bottle? I have even put her nose to it, but she seems disinterested. Should I be concerned?

Chins don't need ramps, they jump =)

Chin's don't drink a whole lot of water, as long as there is change in the water level I'd leave it be; but continue to monitor her water intake.

Use a marker and mark the current water level and see how much it goes down. ;)

She is a cutie and her "bunny butt" is cute too!

LOL - yes, they do jump! But there was a substantial height involved from one level to the other, and she's still "a baby", so wanted to make SURE she could get all over the place BUT - I got my ledges from Shooper in the mail today, and can't wait to strategically place them for her in the cage!! The ramp will come out, and she can boing all over the place - LOL!!

That is great! Do post pictures of the cage when you are done. Would love to see pictures

Question ...

Honestly - what is best for Ayla as far as being an only chin?

I want to bond with her and give her a lot of one-on-one attention, but I know they are very species-social. Will it be unfair/unkind for her to be a single chin? I don't want to be selfish here.

Just concerned that if I got her a friend, she's be more interested in being with her than with me. So please, advise! THANKS!!

Oh - and cage pics coming at a decent hour - LOL!!

THANK YOU for the nice comments!!
