Are these two items ok?

the shelf i would say is not safe - i see layers of wood that are no doubt glued together, and you cannot be assured the glue used is safe. just like with plywood (layers of wood glued together), not safe for chins.

the hanging toy may be safe, but companies very rarely put what type of wood it is, and that never sits right with me. i want to know for sure that my chins are not chewing a wood that is toxic to them.

it would be much better to order toys and shelves off our members here. check out the classifieds section, i'm sure you'll find much better quality items than those you linked. plus, prices are better when buying via our forum, and you know you are supporting a fellow chin friend, and not lining the pockets of some big-wig corporate flunky.

I'd also say the shelf isn't safe -- looks like plywood or something similar to me.

Hard to say about the second one - as mentioned, companies often don't list what type of wood it is. Though some people do call and ask - you could do that to see if it's a chin safe wood... but it's often easier to just order products you know are safe versus have to mess around with figuring out whether others are/aren't safe.

I wondered about the hanging toy as I've seen alot of other toys from that company/brand have been on chin safe lists from stores, So i'd assume it'd be ok but I since I really don't know, I'll probably take them out, I do have a box of nine hanging toys coming tomorrow or the next day, so i'm sure they cant wait lol, They have three others in their until then anyway. And the shelf i'll probably take out just to be safe and move another one to it's spot. It looks nice but I noticed it didn't seem to be on solid chunk of wood like the others. Sometimes it's easier to just get things at a store. luckily this smaller mom/pop type store has many other toys that I saw on the ok list.

I was curious so I sent an email to both companies to see what they are made out of. Took them out until I hear back. Although I'm pretty sure I won't be using the ledge, as it does seem like it would probably be held together by some type of glue. I'm hoping the hanging chews are fine though. I guess we'll see, hopefully soon!

Thanks for the replys!!

The platform is made out of birch and pine......I also asked if they used glue, but she didn't mention that in the email....so i'm guessing that might be a yes lol.

I know a lot of the times I use stores when I need stuff at the moment One brand that I found if good for toys is the willow ware brand , and they are reasonable in price Im lucky we have this store that opened that sells more variety of stuff when I run out
