Hey, I am new to this forum. I just got my first chin today. I adopted him from someone who found him wandering in a parking lot and could no longer care for him. I was looking at him and I noticed his testicles are really far apart and his anus looks like it could be petruding a bit??? I am not sure what this is supposed to look like. Could someone please help me out by showing me what his genitles should look like?

The woman who gave him to me told me she had him for 2 years after she found him. So he is over 2. I also saw a lot of raisens in his cage and his poop is a little small and grainy color. Just want to make sure hes okay.

http://www.chinchilla-lexikon.de/chinchilla-site-in-english.htm - there are some pictures on this site that show what the genital area on a male (and female for that matter) should look like. If the anus is protruding more than what is shown in these pictures, I'd most definitely take the little guy into a qualified vet (could be prolapse).

As for the consistency and size of his poos, more information is needed as to what his diet has been for the past...say...week or two, including treats. Raisins are NOT a good treat to give a chin and most definitely should not be given to them more than 1 every day or two (much less enough to have several laying around his cage at one time).

how can post a picture up on here? i see the link for but it asks me for the url how can i post it?

I just learned myself :) the easiest way (that I've found) is to create a photo album on your profile. Then click on the photo you'd like to put in your post. Under the photo will be two codes one for url and one that is the BB code. Copy and paste the BB code into your post and the picture will be included when you submit your post.

fluke I second that

how does a chinchilla end up wandering in a parking lot?

I found my newest little boy fleury on the loading dock of a hospital back in september. Actually, my boyfriends mom had seen my chinchilla before and called me and said "hey kim, there is a chinchilla up here @ the hospital on the loading docks that looks like Sidney!" So I ran up w/a carrier, food, water, a chin-chiller, and a blanket and got him.....He was in really bad shape (mats, dirty, whiskers were singed, etc) but i took him to the vet and he just had some nerve damage in his shoulder. He is the sweetest boy ever and loves attention....Sometimes its just meant to be!

Maybe he couldn't find his car!!
Seriously - in a parking lot!?!?!?!

I've someone who swears his uncle traps wild chins somewhere in Wisconsin!! Every time I see this guy, he tells me again!
Maybe I should find out the location, and send a member over there?!?!
