So, I think I am going to do a Pet Expo in April as a vendor.
I would want to make some of my houses large enough to fit a ferret or two in them, but have never owned a ferret so I'm not sure how large to make them.

Does anyone have any ferrets that they have a favorite house? My club houses are what I was thinking of making larger, and right now they have a base of 10" square and are something like 8" tall and the door is I think 6" tall. So I'm wondering if this is large enough, or if I should make it bigger. I think it should probably be bigger, but I'm not sure how much bigger. Also, do they need to be lined inside so there's no seams? Or are seams okay?

Thanks for your help :)

I have 5 ferrets and I think your house sounds fine. Ferrets hate to be cold so they sleep in huge adorable snuggly piles. They love their hammocks so bring some of those too. Of course they love tunnels, can you make removable (washable) fleece covered (inside and out) tubes? Seams don't bother them.

I have to agree, that seems fine. I have one of those hanging cubes that V makes- not exactly sure of the size in the ferrets cage, and they both snuggle in there. I'd say its prob. 10-12" square?

Seams are ok, they won't chew them--but i've found they'll dig and scratch them. Sometimes nails will get caught in them, but it hasn't been a big deal. They LOVE hammocks, and anything they can hide in..I think the tube idea would be great!

I make the fleece covered pvc tubes, and planned on making a bunch and bringing them since they can be used for many kinds of pets. And hammocks.

I'm going to be super busy over the next month and half.. I have a craft show next month then a week later is this Pet Expo. Ahhh

Thanks Liz :)

I'm hoping the Expo goes well, it'll be my first time trying to sell the small pet stuff in person. I've done shows with dog and cat collars and toys, but I figure this would be a place to try and market both. The booth fee is expensive, but I'm hoping to get more people interested in the things I make locally. :)
I'm most excited about the petting zoo that's going to be there lol
