As I continue posting about Splinter and his issues... I'm wondering if there are any other options to check teeth/mouth for issues WITHOUT putting them under? Last time he was under, we almost lost him. He heart rate dropped way down and they had to bring him back before obtaining any x-rays (that was 6 weeks ago). Are there any other options for us??

A vet can use a otoscope but the vision is limited and the observation of the rear cheek teeth is impossible, and if any work needs to be done the chin needs to be under.

Is this a vet experienced with chins? How much anesthetic did they use and what kind, if you know? (gas, injectable, and the name would be helpful too)

Yes, very experienced (both vets in one office, too!). They used gas, not sure how much. They said it was light though. Next time he needs to be put under for any reason, I'll be going to another specialist that has an anesthesiologist and cardiologist in with him.
