I am finding myself having allergic reactions to my chins. I get hives where ever I get scratched, and sneeze when I visit the room with their cages in it. So far leaving the room during dust baths and a fleece cover to limit airborne dust has helped. I'm using Blue Cloud dust, Oxbow pellets, and had Oxbow hay(switched to Kaytee when I couldnt find some at the store) I alway gotten hives over the 6ish months I've owned a chin. Could the sneezing be the other hay? Also is there a allergy friendly chin bath?

I deal with pretty outrageous allergies myself. The 'dust particles' that get into the air when you open or close a bag of hay can aggravate your allergies if your sensitive to it. Same goes for any wood shaving litter and dust bath sands.

Their are things you can try to reduce any exposure tho. Air filters in front of the cage and dust masks are a good start. I use both. And while not perfect, they do help me out.

As for the sand baths, i use every measure i can. Clean air filter and dust mask go without saying. I also do it at night before i go to bed to let the air filter clean the room out over night. I try to limit my exposure to the area as much as possible. Usually by the time i get up the next morning, the room air is pretty clear of any dust.
