Allergic to guinea pigs?

I am volunteering at my local guinea pig rescue to help out at adoption events and things like that. I have a lot of allergies and I was wondering how common guinea pig allergies are. I am getting shots and the dr said I could be tested for guinea pigs and if allergic I could have it added to my shots. The bad part is I don't have health insurance that will cover that right now, so I will have to pay myself. So I was wondering if anyone knows. I am going to call to find out the cost, but the person I would need to talk to is not there until mid week. Thanks!

I know of a few people that are allergic to guinea pigs. I don't know anything about getting shots for it, I didn't even know that it was possible to get a shot for that!

I'm allergic to them, their bedding, their hay, etc. I sneeze when I hold them and if they scratch me I break out in hives.

My boyfriend is allergic to guinea pigs, but not the chins, hamsters, or cat. Its weird but he also has a million other allergies, mostly food.
