I know they need one. This past winter mine went down that road air conditioners go whenever they get so full of chinchilla fur lol. I can hear it trying to turn on but doesn't seem to be getting the connection needed. The next pretty day I am going to try to hose it out and see if that will work.

Well I went and bought one but come to find out it isn't as big as the one that I had in the wall so it does not fit in its place (if I used it have the the air slits on the outside would be inside the wall). So does anyone know how I can go about looking at the specs of an airconditioner right now (most stores haven't even put theirs out yet).

Oh and this isn't just a window it is a hole in the wall (it was actually sort of made just for this air conditioner).

Can't you just reinforce the hole? Add a board around the area that its not fitting? My grandfather always does things like this. If he buys something the wrong size, he'll find a way to make it fit!

It'd probably be best to buy the correct one, as rigging it to work might not be the most efficient way. Just measure the height, width and depth of your old one, and approach someone at home depot, or wherever. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they don't have them - ask for a "pre-season" price, too! Can't hurt!!

I would but that would not look that nice, since it is right at the front of our house

The store websites should have all of the measurements, then you can go to the store and ask for the model you found on-line (or sometimes it will tell you what the actual store has in stock). I recommend getting a model that comes back on automatically to the same setting after a power outage.
