Hi my chinchilla Kiwi had three kits today, they all seem healthy but the kits get into fights. I think they might not be getting enough milk. I don't know exactly what to do. I read that I could give them a formula for additional boost containing goat milk replacer but I don't have that at the moment is there anything else that I can possibly give them in the meantime.. I'm planning to go to the pet store tomorrow.

The pet store will have nothing for kits that is safe. You can get fresh goats milk at some grocery stores. I know super Wal-Mart's carry it, and they are open 24 hours.

If they are fighting, you need to at the very least separate them. By morning, one of them could be so hurt to the point of being unable to save them. Fighting means immediate rotation and/or hand feeding.

Please see this FAQ and give it a thorough read. It should help you out with most of the information you need.

Thank you for replying. Yes, I had already read that thread from the link that you showed me yesterday and it says:
" As an added nutritional boost, you can place the following formula that the JAGS developed in the cage with mom and the babies. Moms seem to enjoy it just as much as the kits. Be sure to provide hay, pellets, and fresh water along with this formula.

1 part calf or goat milk replacer (a dry formula-purchase at a feed store)
1 part crushed pellets
1 part 50/50 mixture of dry rice and oatmeal baby cereal "

So that's why I typed that I was going to go to the petshop for the dry goat's milk replacer..

but you say that I can use fresh goat's milk right, then it doesn't necessarily have to be powder? Is one like this okay? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Meyenberg-Goat-Milk-1-qt/10818414

That supplement in your post is a DRY formula to be given in addition to supplementing the kits with milk. Milk is not given dry when you are handfeeding, so you can do both or you can just do the milk to supplement and rotate the kits.

I'm a little confused.. so what you're saying is that I can't mix the fresh goat's milk in with the baby cereal and the pellets.. Instead I would have to get the goat's milk replacement and mix it in dry with the baby cereal and pellets.. and give them both the fresh goat's milk and the mixture.. or just the fresh goat's milk, right?

And I know milk is not given dry when hand feeding.. I was just wondering if I could give them just the mixture just in case the mom wasn't filling them up. I wasn't planning on hand feeding them.

I already did the half water, half apple juice to help the mom with the milk production that was in the thread.
