I have 1 female, Wally, who is about 4. She has been living in her 3 story cage all alone since the day I got her from the pet store. recently the girlfriend has been begging me to get Wally a friend. Is it too late to add another female? I've heard they can get territorial, and since Wally has been by herself since the start, will she allow an unknown chin to come in and eat from her food, drink from her water, and bathe in her dust? I would love to add another little chin to the family, but i dont want to spend the money if I am going to have to keep them seperate.

There's about a 50% chance they would (or wouldn't) get along. Even if they did get along, you'd need to have an extra cage in the event that one day they started fighting and you had to separate them.

If you aren't willing to take on the expense of the possibility of having to keep them separate, I wouldn't do it.

well, its not even about the money... im young, live on my own, and not a millionaire. the room i have to keep chins and chin cages is very limited. Wally's cage takes up a large portion of my room and i really just dont have anywhere to put another one, unless its a tiny thing. wouldnt want to have to keep one in a tiny cage while the other gets the 3-story if i would have to keep them seperate. 50/50 might be good enough odds for me to give it a whirl tho. will have to think about this one for a while before i make any decisions. Thanks for the advice

If you do decide to get another one and put them together, just make sure to take your time with it. You can read tons of posts here as to how other people have been successful and not. Good Luck!
