My chinchilla, Sunny, has never had a wheel in his entire life. I've had him for about 8 months and have done tons of research before and after bringing him home. Before I ever read about wheels, I got him a plastic one from Petsmart, but now that's just sitting nowhere near him cause I know no plastic, plus it's a 12 inch. I've been looking at wheels for months and can't make a decision
I looked at other posts on her, but never read about anyone who had a wheel with wood backing and a solid running surface, like this one: http://questhavenpets.com/chinchillas/products/products.html
I'll try to add a pic-this is my first question! What do you have to say about wood backs? It doesn't look like he could get to it to chew. Also, chin spins flake? Is that dangerous and if not, how quiet are they. I was going to try one of those homemade, food pan ones, but a bunch of people said they're too loud and he is in my bedroom. I can finally sleep through his craziness during the night, lol, but I'd like a quieter wheel. I know no spokes or mesh running surface. And it has to be at least 14 inch. Any help would be GREAT!!!! Thank you!
