A couple of baby questions...

One of our rescue girls suprised us with a little baby yesterday. Mama and baby are doing well! I was hoping you all could answer a coupld of questions for me...

I took all the high shelves etc out of the nursery cage but baby keeps climbing the walls! Yesterday (her first day of life!) she made it about 5 inches off the floor of the cage. Is that ok??? I have no idea how I would keep her from doing it.

When can I put baby and Latte back with Mocha (or Mocha in with them)? I think Latte and Mocha are really missing each other (they are sisters and have always been together) and I am afraid it is stressing Latte out. I have their cages pretty close but I am going to try to rearrange them today so they are right next to each other.

I don't think you can keep them from climbing.

As far as putting Mocha back in the cage, I'm unsure. I know some have pairs or trios where one gives birth and they don't separate.

I've had females in with each other, where one has had a kit, and they all mothered the baby. I never had to separate them. Not much you can do about a baby climbing a cage, other than a smaller cage! They are monkeys!

You could line the inside of the cage with idk..1or2 inch pvc pipe. When they try to climb they just can't get a grip and slide off. Are your cage bars baby proofed? Congratulations on the baby!

If they were together before I would just leave them together. Lots of my female help with eachothers babies. I would obviously watch them closely at 1st just to make sure. As for the kitclimbing the bars, there isn't much you can do. Just block them as much as possible.
